Opal crushed ice maker needs repair.

We have a GE opal ice maker and we neglected to clean it as we should have..  It started making a terrible noise so my husband tried to You Tube it  to  fix it.. Well he made it worse.. we tried cleaning it with vinegar and ice maker cleaner, but now it just cleans but doesn't make ice but the noise stopped...
