Hi! My name is Jon Vanegas - I am the Middle School Science Department Chair at Georgetown Day School with 6 years of MS teaching experience. I graduated from Manhattan College in 2016 with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and from Saint Mary's University of Minnesota with an M.A. in Educational Leadership in 2021. Now that this school year is coming to an end, I am looking to tutor students over the summer. I can really help in any subject, but my strength is really math and physical sciences (both K-12). Middle school (11yrs-14yrs) science teacher looking for summer work. Seven years of teaching science and being an advisor/homeroom teacher. I have a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an M.A. in Educational Leadership. I believe educators have the responsibility of helping their students make sense of the world they live in. My goal is not to create high achievers via extrinsic motivation but to push and develop my students' analytical and critical thinking skills by connecting content to their daily lives. I also believe in fostering diversity and inclusivity, focusing on the intersection of science and social justice.

I am very proficient in the following subjects:
- Math (all levels including AP Calculus)
- Reading (all levels)
- Science (primarily Chemistry, Physics, AP Chem, AP Physics)

I also am fine with providing additional support such as babysitting, nannying, or support with executive functioning skills.

Starting base: $100/hr (negotiable)
